Getting started....

God!  I look so old.  Why do I not feel like I look like I am almost 55?  I started a blog with a friend in 2011 but only stuck with it a few months.  Now I have been working on losing weight because in October of 2012, I was diagnosed with Diabetes.  Apparently, that is under control now with me being at 6.2 instead of over 7 (whatever that means!).  I took a 3 part Diabetes class that was something that scared me to death!  I started working out and eating better right away.  I have dropped 12 lbs in the last month (started in mid-February 2014 stepping it up).  Since then I have watched numerous videos concerning a vegetarian diet, bought books, and taken classes to help me out.  I belong to the YMCA here but actually enjoy walking and biking at home so I have quit.  I hate parking and waiting on machines.  For once, my tv watching has helped out.

I have been through a lot in the past few years.  In 2007 I had breast cancer.  I am a survivor!  That didn't make me change my lifestyle.  Then I had Diabetes.  For some reason that seemed to do the trick.  I had no idea how scary it was to be Diabetic.  You can't believe all you have to go through.  When I was younger, I was very active.  I ran track, was a cheerleader and moved a lot in general.  I gained weight in college, mostly from bad eating habits from my youth.  Later, from having a daughter.  At that point, I had gained over 40 lbs.  I lost that on the Scarsdale Diet.  In my twenties, I went up 40 more lbs and lost it by a rather restrictive diet that melted it off in 3 months.  I had returned to college to finish my degree and wanted to be the best weight possible.  I gained it back in less than 6 months!  After that I just kept gaining weight.  When I was 40, I had another daughter (I weighed 260??? during my pregnacy).  After that, I lost a little but then weighed a little more for a while than I did when I was pregnant!  I have lost almost 22 lbs from that starting amount since.

I weighed 248 this morning  Ugh.  Not my worst weight, but still going down.  My dad is coming to visit in August so I want to see how much I can lose by then.  While I have increased my activity level, the most important thing seems to be reduction of portion size and to watch what I eat, so that is what I am going to do.

Last night:  I watched a good documentary called, "Unsupersize Me."  I liked it because it was about someone who was trying to lose weight and it took about a year.  I love that idea!  She also didn't exercise 20 hours a day like on "The Biggest Loser."  I once had a trainer that I thought was going to kill me.  I was so purple when I would leave those workouts, that I thought I would die!

So right now, I am trying Dr Oz's 2 week rapid loss diet.  Not very exciting but today my younger daughter and I will give it a try!

First thing in the morning, drink some warm water with lemon.

Second, drink his shake:
Dr. Oz Shake for this diet:
2 T Rice Protein Powder
2 T ground flaxseeds
1/2 cup frozen berries (I used blueberries or strawberries)
1/2 banana
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Lunch:
yogurt with fruit
apple

Dr Oz Rapid Weight Loss

Dinner:
Vegetables from the list and some brown rice???

Well, it's only 2 weeks.  I have plenty of great vegetarian and vegan recipes to try on my pinterest account.

I will display those as I cook ones I like.  I will keep posting daily with my food intake and use it as sort of a diary of what is going on with me along with the food challenges I face.

Watched, "Weight of the Nation" for some education today.  Good Documentary.  I also like "Forks Over Knives" and "Food, Inc."
